So, I had some issues installing imap with 10.3's nifty new shadowing of the passwords. I ended up using the www.maczipit.com/imap-osx-patch.zip patch for imap, and using no SSL, but I was wondering if anybody had come up with a more secure way out? I mean, what is the point of shadowing the encripted pass, if it is going accross the machine in plain text?

Re: Shadow passwords and imap
Wed, January 14, 2004 - 3:18 PMCan you be more specific? Are you using IMAP? What is the server? If it is going across the wire in the clear, that is a server issue. What is exactly going across in the clear?
Cheers,

Re: Shadow passwords and imap
Thu, January 15, 2004 - 1:50 PMEr, yes I am using IMAP as I said. And we are talking about passwords. The issue is reported and discussed
www.macosxhints.com/article.php
But like I said, I don't like the solution of running passwords non-encrypted. -

Re: Shadow passwords and imap
Fri, March 5, 2004 - 9:44 AMA little googling (imap "OS X") turns up this link: <www.theatrain.net/pantherimaps.html> which seems to provide everything you'd need...
